More about the theme

Paul had quite a past. He had been a Pharisee that many Jews certainly looked up to, and believed that he would become someone great and important. And he had persecuted the Christians because he did not believe that what they said about Jesus was true.

But then he met Jesus on the road to Damascus – then he put everything in his former life behind him and gave his whole life to Jesus. And Jesus had an important task for Paul. He was to be the one who told other peoples about Jesus, not just Jews, but all sorts of people.

Paul understood that he had been shown such great mercy by Jesus, because Jesus had hope for him and loved him. Now Paul could be an example for others. “Jesus came to save sinners – and I am the greatest of them,” Paul said of himself. When Jesus had shown his power to save him, then others could also have hope.

Paul spent the rest of his life working with people and teaching them all that Jesus had said. No matter how their lives may have been before, Jesus could forgive them and deliver them from the sin they had lived in so that they could become disciples.
